Dental implant therapy (implant placement) is the gold-standard solution for replacing missing teeth, restoring their shape, function, and a natural, tooth-like feel. At Tam Nhu Dental Clinic, we employ advanced implant technologies together with modern equipment to ensure a treatment process that is safe, precise, and effective.

What Is a Dental Implant?

Dental implant therapy replaces a missing tooth by surgically placing a titanium implant fixture into the jawbone to act as an artificial root, then attaching a prosthetic crown on top via an abutment. This method restores both the root and the clinical crown and does not require preparing adjacent teeth, unlike a conventional fixed bridge.

Components of a Dental Implant

Dental Implant

  • Implant Fixture (Implant Post/Body)

A tapered, cylindrical device made of medical-grade titanium, proven biocompatible. It substitutes for the natural tooth root and supports the overlying crown or bridge. Multiple implant systems exist with different origins, designs, and features

  • Abutment

A straight or angled connector that joins the implant fixture to the prosthetic crown/bridge. It is designed for long-term durability comparable to the fixture.

  • Implant Crown

The prosthetic tooth attached to the abutment. It is fabricated from metal-ceramic or all-ceramic dental materials, shaped and shaded to resemble natural teeth. The crown is hollow internally so it can seat over the abutment.

When are Dental Implants indicated?

Dental implant therapy is an advanced, comprehensive tooth-replacement option indicated in many edentulous situations, especially:

- Loss of a single tooth, multiple teeth, or a full arch: significantly compromises mastication, speech, and facial aesthetics.

- Previous restorations with removable dentures or fixed bridges that are unsatisfactory: problems such as looseness/instability, discomfort, or progressive alveolar bone resorption.

- Long-standing tooth loss with ridge/bone resorption: leads to facial collapse, sunken cheeks, early wrinkles, and altered dentofacial support.

- Remaining natural teeth are weak/mobile and unsuitable as bridge abutments: implants are the optimal choice because they do not require preparation of adjacent teeth.

Case: Full-Arch Tooth Loss

Dental Implant

Patient: Cong Minh, 33 years old; lives and works in the United States.

Oral condition:

+ Heavy calculus accumulation with severe gingival inflammation, consistent with Stage III periodontitis.

+ Generalized alveolar bone loss (multiple regions).

+ Coronal fractures of several teeth.

+ Multiple missing teeth.

Recommended treatment plan:

Stage 1:

+ Extract all non-restorable/non-functional teeth.

+ Socket-preservation bone grafting at sites with bone deficiency.

Stage 2: All-on-4 implant surgery in the maxilla and mandible.

Stage 3: Post-implant follow-up; take impressions/scans to fabricate a provisional acrylic (PMMA) full-arch prosthesis to restore function.

Current Dental Implant Options

Depending on the pattern of tooth loss and jawbone density, the dentist will prescribe the most appropriate implant protocol. Common options include:

  • Single-tooth implant

Dental Implant

For a single missing tooth, an implant fixture is placed at the site and restored with an individual porcelain crown. Adjacent teeth are not affected/prepared

  • Multiple-tooth implants

Dental Implant

For loss of two or more teeth. Multiple implants may be placed to restore each tooth individually, or a fixed implant-supported bridge can be fabricated on the implants

  • Full-arch implant rehabilitation (All-on-4 / All-on-6)

Dental Implant

For full-arch edentulism or a hopeless dentition with nonfunctional, mobile teeth. Four to six implants support a fixed full-arch prosthesis, comprehensively restoring chewing function and facial aesthetics.

  • Highly qualified, experienced clinicians

Implant treatment is performed by Specialist Level I dentists and implantology specialists with formal implant certifications and extensive clinical experience.

  • Digital workflow and advanced technologies (pre- and post-treatment)

Our protocol is supported by 3D Cone Beam CT (CBCT) for precise diagnosis, the 3Shape intraoral scanner for fast, impression-free digital records, and ATP38 photobiomodulation to promote faster healing and reduce swelling/discomfort.

  • Genuine, premium implant systems from France

We use Kontact implants by Biotech Dental (France)—a globally recognized brand with proven quality, ensuring high osseointegration, safety, and long-term stability.

  • Medical-grade implant surgery protocol

Our implant surgeries are carried out in a closed, sterile surgical suite. Every step strictly follows infection-prevention and control (IPC) standards. The surgical area is segregated and includes a medical-grade sterile scrub room, minimizing the risk of cross-infection.
